FREMONT — The Gerber Foundation recently awarded grants totaling $114,169 to many organizations in West Michigan for programs serving area youth.

According to a release, the grants are primarily focused on early childhood services, mentoring, summer programming and early literacy skills.

One of the numerous grant recipients was Rose Lake Youth Camp, located in LeRoy. The funds will help the camp purchase a tipi to allow an overnight outdoor program with a focus on Native American and pioneer life.

The Gerber Foundation’s mission is to enhance the quality of life of infants and young children.

The deadline for the next round of grants is Wednesday, March 15.  For more information or to apply, visit gerberfoundation.org.
