Gateway Community Band to perform May 11

COLEMAN — The Gateway Community Band is inviting the community to its debut on Thursday, May 11, at the Coleman High School Gymnasium.

The Outreach Concert will consist of an array of music ranging from a jazzy version of the "St. Louis Blues" to a quirky rendition of the "Little Red Monkey." During the band’s performance, the audience will be transported to the wide open country in "Wyoming Portrait," the battlefields in "The Blue and the Gray" and a time of great sorrow in "How Firm Thy Friendship."

Each year, the GCB performs at local high schools to share their love of music and promote the importance of the arts among students and adults.

Those interested in joining the Gateway Community Band are encouraged to visit its website at gatewaybands.org or Facebook page. Rehearsals are at 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays in the Clare High School band room.

The band’s next performance will be Friday, June 30, at Clare Shamrock Park Pavilion in celebration of Independence Day.
