EVART – Members of the Gold Wing Touring Association will gatherfrom all over the state to attend the Michigan State Rally from Thursday, June 19, through Sunday, June 22, at the Osceola County 4-H FFA Fairgrounds in Evart.

Ron Klann, director for the state of Michigan, said the organization has been using the fairgrounds for their annual rally since 2003. The rally will begin with a hot dog roast for those who come early on Thursday, followed by a golf outing on Friday and games on Saturday evening.

Registration for campsites and activities will begin at 9 a.m. on Friday. At 11 p.m. on Friday, several members of the GWTA will parade through the nearby Relay for Life of Osceola County to display their bike lights for the participants. Klann said coordination between the two groups began several years ago.

"I think it started originally because we usually have between 100 and 120 people, and the fairgrounds decided they could probably put on both events at the same time,” Klann said. "Neither of the groups are that big."

The GWTA has nine chapters in Michigan and approximately 300 members. Klann said the rally is open to both in-state and out-of-state members as well as friends and spectators.
