GFWC supports Child Abuse Awareness Month

PINWHEELS: It was all about blue and silver pinwheels as the Reed City Chapter of General Federation of Women Club put out more than 100 pinwheels as one of their community projects. The project is titled "Pinwheels for Prevention. Child Abuse Awareness Month."

Pinwheels can be seen from the south end of town at the library to the north end of town at Shakers Party Store, throughout the downtown area and at GT Norman Elementary School. Many cities, states and national GFWC clubs put out pinwheels for the month of April, which is the month of the Young Child and Child Abuse Awareness Month. Putting out pinwheels for the Reed City GFWC were Angie Clark, Jessie Windquist, Jennifer Ondrus, Angela Christie, Joan Williams and Shelly Scharlow, and even some young helpers, including MaKale Botlze, Kailey Windquist and Ashleigh Scharlow.

This was Reed City GFWC's second year planting pinwheels and the members hope to keep the project going for many years. Reed City GFWC is always looking for new members and they meet the third Thursday of each month at the United Methodist Church in Reed City.
