REED CITY — After years of walking through the hallways at G.T. Norman Elementary, fifth-graders said their goodbyes amid cheering and applause.

Thursday was the last day of school for Reed City Area Public Schools students.

A newer tradition at the school, the clap-out celebrates fifth-graders for their accomplishments as they move on to sixth grade at Reed City Middle School next school year. Parents, grandparents, siblings and fellow G.T. Norman students cheered the fifth-graders on Thursday, as some dressed up in wacky costumes or showed off their Coyote pride.

Other activities on Thursday included an awards assembly for fourth-graders.
