G.T. Norman Family Night to include free flu shots, teddy bear clinic

REED CITY — G.T. Norman Elementary School is welcoming families back to school with the first Family Night of the 2013-14 school year.

“Welcome Back” Family Night will begin with dinner at 5 p.m. on Thursday at the elementary school. Nachos will be served until 5:30 p.m., and then families of children in preschool through fifth grade can enjoy a variety of activities until 7 p.m.

The evening will include math and reading games, board games, floor games, a Lego table and art project.

Spectrum Health Reed City Hospital is joining the Family Night to provide free flu vaccines for people of all ages. Hospital staff also will run a teddy bear clinic where children learn standard doctor’s office procedures by taking their stuffed animals through the process. Bears will be provided for those who don’t have their own, and all children who participate in the clinic will receive a free T-shirt.
