EVART — A free food distribution will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 12, in Evart.

The Feeding America truck will arrive at about 5 p.m. at Crossroads Community Church, 110 S. Main St., Evart, and distribution will begin at about 6 p.m. No preregistration is required. Anyone wishing to receive food can simply show up and get in line. There are no residency requirements.

General Mills-Yoplait Reed City have sponsored the truck, along with two others scheduled for later distributions. Each truck will have about 10,000 pounds of food on it. If each distribution had 200 families, each family would receive about 50 pounds of food, including many fruits and vegetables. Mobile food distributions are set up for 200 families, and past Community Action Council distributions have averaged about 120 families, so organizers expect there will be plenty of food available.

Two additional food distributions have been scheduled as well. The first will be on Sept. 23 in Marion, with the truck arriving at roughly 10 a.m. and distribution beginning about 10:30 a.m. The second will begin at 6 p.m. on Oct. 4 at the Church of the Nazarene in Reed City, just north of the Burger King.
