Former Detroit Lion Herman Moore shares positivity with RCAPS students

REED CITY — Students at Reed City High School and middle school received a treat on March 11 when they former Detroit Lion wide receiver Herman Moore visited the school.

The NFL star was joined by members of the U.S. Army National Guard and started things off with a fun activity resulting in middle school student Peyton Knight receiving an autographed t-shirt.

Moore discussed many aspects about his life, including his childhood, how he became interested in football and the development of his passion, not giving up through the hard times and taking advantage of life's opportunities.

"If you start something, finish it," Moore said. "Be in charge of your own destiny."

Besides a healthy love for extra curriculars, he told students a strong education is important to work on, noting they should keep focused and not be afraid to ask for assistance or advice.

Following his discussion, Moore took time to answer questions from students and take photographs.
