EVART — Main Street in Evart will be abuzz with activity at the annual Evart Main Street Fall Festival from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 12.

Visitors will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of fall-themed activities, including a chili cook-off, a scarecrow contest, chicken doo bingo, rock painting, music, games and more.

The downtown farmers market will open at 9 a.m. and will have fresh baked goods available for purchase along with locally grown vegetables and meats and handcrafted items.

Other festivities will begin at 10 a.m., including jumping castles for kids, a children's reading at the library, craft vendors, a petting zoo and a variety of games for kids of all ages with prizes.

Visitors are invited to participate in the chili cook-off and scarecrow contest by voting for their favorites.

Damned By Dawn, a local rock group from Evart, will play from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Damned By Dawn has played at Streeters Event Center, The Soaring Eagle Casino and the Easy Rider Rodeo Main Stage.

From 3 to 5 p.m., music will be provided by Bob Marshall Band, winner of the Will Rogers "Male Vocalist of the Year" and the CMA of Texas award for "Best Country Album of the Year."

Throughout the day, food will be provided by The Patty Wagon.

Downtown shops and restaurants will be open throughout the festival, as well, and many will participate in the scarecrow and chili cook-off contests.

The festival is an opportunity for visitors and residents both to come together to celebrate the fall season.

"It's going to be a day of fun, we have a lot of activities for kids of all ages," Downtown Development Authority/Michigan Main Street Director Bryan Tiedt said. "We hope everyone will come out and have a good time."
