Fly and remember kite memorial set for June 9

CADILLAC – Community members are invited to share memories of lost loved ones by decorating and flying a kite in their honor from 9 a.m. to noon on June 9 at the Cadillac High School stadium.

Hospice of Michigan invites all families who have experienced loss to come together for the special memorial.

Any type of loss can be honored at the event, including the loss of a loved one, loss of a pet, loss of a job, loss of independence and all other types of loss. The goal of the event is to provide comfort and support as individuals make their journey through grief, which is the goal of all Hospice of Michigan services.

Kites and decorating supplies such as stickers, markers and paint will be provided and the event is free to the public. A light breakfast and refreshments will also be served.

Follow the personalization and decorating of the kites, a warm welcome and a kite memorial service will be held. The service will include music, poems, readings and the gratification of flying kites in remembrance of loss and honor of loved ones.

The event was first held last year in Newaygo County with around 40 individuals in attendance. Organizers expect the same amount or more at this year’s event.

Registration is required. To register and for more information, contact Tangela Zielinski at 231-527-0913.
