Farm market opens for season in Hersey

HERSEY — Area residents interested in finding farm-fresh food, crafts, baked goods and more have a new option for their shopping.

The Hersey Farm Market will take place from 3 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays beginning today, June 1. The market will take place at Mosaic Park and will feature special biweekly events.

Katrie Dubridge, one of the team who organized the market, is excited to see it start for the season.

“We’re super excited to get things going. We hope the market will be a success and people will be interested in becoming a part of it,” she said. “This is a family-oriented market where everybody can come and participate, with good times and good products. The hope and goal for the Hersey Farm Market is to bring people together and provide more opportunities for good food and community fellowship.”

In addition to opening for the season, the market is hosting a kick-off fundraiser from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 4, at the park. The fundraiser will feature a potluck dinner, a free swing dancing class, live music and jam session, a seed exchange and silent auction.

“The kick-off fundraiser is to get the word out, get community feedback and get people excited about the season,” Dubridge said. “It’s also an opportunity to talk about some of the things we want to do, like educational programming for kids and adults, as well as figure out what the community is looking for in a market.”

Anyone interested in participating in the market should call (231)872-0794.
