REED CITY — There’s an opportunity to volunteer and have fun doing so, thanks to this week’s upcoming Family Fun Community Night at G.T. Norman Elementary School in Reed City.

The event is set for Thursday, May 19, and the time has been altered just a tad for the activities which will be located outside, weather permitting.

Coordinator Vicky Bowman said there will be an honest-to-goodness picnic dinner complete with hot dogs and potato salad. Along with that will be special treats including snow cones, popcorn and cotton candy.

In addition to inflatable games, there will be a variety of other activities. Cran-Hill Ranch will be in charge of carnival games, the Big Rapids Flower Club will be planting flowers with the youngsters, and Lowe’s will be here to do a “Build-a-Kid” workshop.

Wait! There’s more! The event will include bubbles, sidewalk and playground games.

Last year’s “picnic,” was truly that with hundreds of children, parents, teachers, teens, and even grandparents pitching in to make it one big success.

Anyone wishing to volunteer to help make this year’s event an even bigger success (if that’s possible) can contact the school to contact Vicky Bowman, or show up and offer. There’s always a spot needing one more person.

Bowman said this is an event that is not only a fun one but one in which “I need a lot of extra help for this one!”

The community is invited to come on out and enjoy.
