Family Fun Night holds election
EVART — It’s November and that usually is the month for elections.
Evart Elementary School is no exception, and campaigning for a Nov. 17 election as part of Family Fun Night undoubtedly already is underway.
Mayor Eric Schmidt and Evart’s new postmaster Laurie Holmes will be helping the youngsters get a look at how elections operate and the importance of working on a campaign.
Schmidt will be the emcee and Holmes will have the responsibility of swearing in all candidates after the election.
Each candidate will deliver a speech before a traditional Thanksgiving dinner is served to those attending the Fun Night.
Cake and punch will be served at the reception following the election
All elementary students are encouraged to vote.
In addition, there will be make-n-takes available for all age groups.
The event was a huge success last year, and the children already are gearing up for their campaigns. Last year’s event had voting booths, campaign tables set up, and all sorts of special accents to make the event a memorable experience.
