Families flock to kindergarten roundup

LEROY — Pine River Area Elementary was buzzing with activity on Thursday as the school hosted its annual kindergarten roundup event, with teachers and staff welcoming families walking through the front doors.

"It's always nice to meet the kids and parents, and relieve any concerns they might have before the fall," said kindergarten teacher Angela Johnson. "We enjoy it and it gives us a chance to see who's coming in."

The event allowed for both parents and children to take a tour of the school, meet the teachers, take a short bus ride to learn bus safety and have a snack. Parents also were guided through the enrollment process while upcoming kindergartners took part in a musical activity that encouraged learning.
