EVART — A special fundraiser at the Evart Public Library ends at noon today (Wednesday), and it is hoped that people remembered to get that last bid in on the silent auction items before the deadline.

The gift baskets were located throughout the library since April 4, each one containing a whole array of goodies. In some there were such things as beach items, seeds, basketballs, footballs and other toys. One basket had all the makings for a spaghetti dinner, while another had tickets and treats for a night at the movies.

Still others had candles, a variety of teas and coffee flavors, or lovely things for the ladies in the family or neat things a man might enjoy bidding on.

The money raised will be used to help offset cutbacks by the state, including the penal fines which are down as well.

In an effort to deal with a faltering economy, the hours have been cut back with the library now open from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. only on Monday, and from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. The library is closed on Saturday.
