Evart library auction, dinner this week

EVART – Evart Police Chief Zack Szakacs will be the recipient of a pie in the face this weekend to raise money for the Evart Public Library.

The library currently has raised $4,500 toward the goal of raising $6,000 by April 21. The moneys raised will help cover operational expenses.

The pie-in-the-face will take place at the library’s dinner and live auction on April 21 at the Evart Moose lodge. Auction bills for the event will be distributed in the community Thursday.

Items to be auctioned off include a hot air balloon ride for two from Grand Traverse Balloons, tickets to a wine tasting event for six at the Chateau Chantal Hotel, an autographed photo of the Detroit Tigers, an autographed photo of a Detroit Red Wings player, golf passes from Caberfae, ski tickets from Crystal Mountain, a one-week stay at Boyne Mountaint Resort, two passes for the zip line at Snowsnake Resort in Harrison and much more.

The dinner will be at 5 p.m. with the auction starting at 6 p.m. The pie-in-the-face will be the last item up for bid.

A 50-50 drawing will be held at 6:45 p.m. Participants do not need to be present to win. The dinner costs $7 for adults and $4 for children over 6. Children under 5 get in free.

Tickets for the dinner can be purchased at the library, located at 104 North Main St. in Evart, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday.; and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, or by calling (231) 734-5542.
