EVART — Evart lost in overtime to Pine River on Friday in Highland Conference football action 12-6 in the battle for the Wounded Warrior trophy.

After forcing a Carter Pritchard interception on the first play of overtime, the Bucks ran the ball down to the Evart 1-yard line and punched in the game-winning run on the ensuing play. It was 6-6 at halftime.

Pritchard completed 17 of 37 passes for 188 yards, one touchdown pass, and two interceptions. Billy Conklin had 10 carries for 60 yards, Justin O’Dell and Garrett Johnson had four catches for 46 and 41 yards, respectively. Donavin Reagan had three catches for 51 yards including a 19-yard touchdown grab.

On defense, O’Dell and Conklin each had 10 tackles and one fumble recovery and Ty Sochocki had seven tackles and one interception, while Cameron Brasington added five tackles and one interception.

“Our defense played really well,” Evart head coach Pat Craven said. “We gave up some big plays but forced five turnovers. Offensively we were able to move the ball down the field, but we were in the red zone four or five times and couldn’t score.”

Evart (1-2) hosts McBain next week and Pine River (3-0) faces Beal City.
