Evart child found missing after wandering half mile from home
EVART TWP. — Police, K-9s, other emergency personnel and drones assisted in the search for a missing Evart boy who was found unharmed.
At 7:37 p.m. on Monday, deputies from the Osceola County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to 6 Mile Road near 60th Avenue in Evart Township for a 911 call about a missing 4-year-old boy.
Along with deputies, the Osceola County K-9, Michigan State Police K-9, Evart Police Department, Evart Fire and Rescue and the Big Rapids Township Fire Department Drone Division initiated a search of the area, woods, fields and swamps.
After being missing for more than two hours, the boy was found uninjured about a half mile east of the residence.
Police determined the child had walked outside following his dog without his parents noticing he had left the home. The incident will be turned over to Child Protective Services for routine investigation.
