EVART — Evart Public Schools board members approved the purchase of buses and Chromebooks at their Jan. 12 meeting.

The board approved the purchase of three school buses. The buses cost $33,000 all together.

The board also approved the purchase of 100 Chromebooks with $25,800 of Title One money for the elementary school. The Chromebooks will be on carts and teachers will have the opportunity to check out the carts and bring the computers to their classrooms for student use.

The Institute for Excellence and Education gave $19,000 to the school district to be used for professional development of the elementary school staff.

A presentation was given by Randy Kruse, athletic director for Evart Public Schools, on the proposal to allow high school students to dual-enroll for spring sports. This would allow students to participate in more than one sport during the spring. The board is expected to make a decision at the next meeting.

The board also recognized their school board members for School Board Recognition Month.
