EVART — The City of Evart will soon have new junior royalty as a panel of exacting judges prepare to take their seats and select a new Evart Prince and Princess.

The annual Evart Prince and Princess Pageant is set to begin at 5 p.m. on Friday, March 22, in the Evart Middle School auditorium.

There has been an issue finding willing candidates to run for the more senior Miss Evart title because of a serious conflict of schedules and the availability of Miss Evart to take part in various summer programs.

“Young people today are very busy,” said Booher. “It is tough to get commitment from a Miss Evart who may be working, or may be out of the area for the summer.”

Contestants for the Miss Evart crown should be in grade nine through 12. Prince and Princess candidates can be in any grade from kindergarten through grade eight.

“There are already several girls signed up for the Princess Pagaent,” said organizer Jan Booher. “We’re still hoping to get a few more boys involved as well.

It’s not too late to get involved or sign up as a contestant. Application forms and packets of information can be obtained by visiting organizing committee member Jan Booher at Details Salon in Evart, or by calling 734-6585.

“We are excited to be sponsoring the Prince and Princess competition again,” said Booher

“We’ve had interest shown and folks have been in picking up application forms.

“We think it is going to work out, and the evening should be a lot of fun for everyone involved. We certainly hope so.”

In the past, winners were announced and crowned at a later date - such as during festivities held on stage at the Sweetheart Dance sponsored by the GFC Evart Women’s Club.

This year, the winners will be crowned the night of the pageant at the Middle School.

Don’t miss out.
