EVART - The Green Expo set to go this weekend in Evart has something for just about everyone, but Osceola MSU Extension educator Jerry Lindquist is hoping area residents really understand how important this program can be for local homeowners.

“There seems to have been a little confusion over what the subject matter of this conference will be,” said Lindquist.

“I think the real appeal of this informational opportunity is in the area of energy and alternative energy conservation practices.

“This is an event that should really be attractive to smaller home and property owners,” he continued.

“There’s going to be a lot of discussion on how homeowners can better tap into energy expense reduction options.”

The Green Expo is planned for Saturday, Mar. 26, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Evart High School on Lauman Road, (95th Avenue), just north of U.S. 10.

There is a minimal participation fee to cover cost of the event. The fee includes not only access to the seminars, but also handouts, refreshments, and a light lunch.

On the day’s agenda are such topics as “Cost effective energy solutions for the future” and “Home winterization and home energy audits.”

Lindquist is confident people looking to cut energy costs now and in the future will be well served by attending the Green Expo.

“I think this will be an event that introduces many homeowners to real options for alternative energy,” he said.

“If folks in this area are worried about what the price of electricity is going to be in the future, and if they’re concerned if they’ll be able to absorb that cost, this may be a great way to get them thinking on other new ideas.

“There are a lot of ways to go today - geo-thermal, wind, solar. There also are much better ways to simply conserve energy in existing households and farm operations.

“This is important material to consider in the world in which we live today.

“I think people will go away from this Green Expo feeling good about their energy options for the future.”

Registration for participation in the Green Technologies Expo is being handled by the MSUE team in Reed City.
