Evart High School principal arrested by Michigan State Police

EVART — A week after asking for a leave of absence from his position, Evart High School Principe Alan Kullman has been arrested by Michigan State Police troopers.

Kullman is the subject of a criminal investigation headed by the Michigan State Police post in mount Pleasant. The post is expected to make an official comment on the case this afternoon.

Kullman was noticeably absent from Sunday’s Evart High School graduation ceremony.

Evart Public Schools superintendent Howard Hyde said Kullman requested a leave of absence on May 29. Hyde declined to comment on further details of the situation.

“He is on leave at this time. I do not have a return date for him,” Hyde told the Pioneer.

Hyde and athletic director Randy Kruse have taken over Kullman’s responsibilities for the final three days of the school year.

“We’re just trying to have a smooth end of the year,” Hyde added.
