Evart Car Club hosts annual cruise, car show

EVART — Car lovers from near and far will have much to see in Evart during Labor Day weekend thanks to members of the Evart Car Club, who are hosting their annual cruise and car show.

"I'm excited this year, because we've got so much growth in our club," said Evart Car Club President James Rohen. "I'd like to see it continue and this event usually helps."

This is the fourth year of the cruise, which will begin at 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 29, at the Evart Municipal Airport. The parade of vehicles will travel to Eight Point Lake and back to the Evart Moose Lodge, where participants can park and show their cars.

The cruise will take place rain or shine.

The 21st annual Evart Car Show is slated to take place from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30, at East Riverside Park. Hundreds of cars representing days of decades past from the local area and beyond are expected to attend, attracting even more attendees. Some participants come from as far as Detroit, Rohen said.

"We have people who like every type of car," he added. "They like traditional, restored, original, muscle cars and modified cars."

The first 250 vehicles will receive dash plaques and the first 150 will receive goodie bags. Vintage and modern cars are welcome. The event also will feature door prizes, a raffle for a mountain bike and cash prizes, music provided by a DJ and food concessions from the Evart Greater Federation of Women's Club and Evart Moose Lodge. Vendors with car accessories and craft items will be available as well, Rohen said.

The top 75 cars will receive trophies that day, including 10 specialty trophies for categories like "Best of Show," "Best Original," and "Best Ford." Judging will take place until noon and winners will be announced at 3 p.m.

"It's a good time," Rohen said about the two events. "People will have a nice afternoon with their family, enjoy good food and look at some nice cars."

Both the cruise and car show are free to attend. Registration to show a car in Saturday's event is $15 before the day at $18 the day of the show. To register a vehicle or for more information, visit evartcarclub.com.
