Eads takes seat as new Reed City Chamber, DDA director

REED CITY — Chastity Eads is the new face of the Reed City Area Chamber of Commerce and the Reed City Downtown Development Authority.

Eads, now the director of both entities, was born and raised in Reed City and looks forward to beginning her new position. She and her husband, who are both Reed City High School graduates, live in town with their children.

"I'm really excited," Eads said. "I'm a hometown girl, and for the past six years I was working with the Mecosta Osceola Intermediate School District, so I'm happy to be back in Reed City working for the community."

Her position as the former Reed City Community Education Director allowed her to gain experience in event planning, coordinating with community members and also assisting with the Evergreen Festival arts and crafts show. She also gained leadership experience at the MOISD with the Great Start Collaborative program, connecting with families and children in the area.

"I love being a part of the community," Eads added. "Being from Reed City, it just seemed exciting to me to be able to promote all the great things about the area. That's what I'm excited to do."

Eads loves the small-town feel Reed City has to offer and how the Michigan Rails to Trails system runs right through the city, giving thousands of people access to its businesses and neighborhoods.

Though she just began in her position, Eads has many ideas and plans for the future.

"My biggest goal right now is to go around and meet chamber members, see what they enjoy about being a member and move forward once I've met those contacts," she said. "I want to be a more integral part of the community decision-making process in Reed City and continue to learn."
