EPS board discusses program, initiative

EVART — During Evart Public Schools Board of Education meeting Monday, Dec, 11, members heard from Superintendent Shirley Howard about the industrial arts program at the school, as well as a new initiative.

“We are really happy with how the industrial arts program is going,” Howard said. “I feel this program will be a showcase for our district.”

Howard also spoke about the addition of a school nurse to the district. EPS is partnering with Spectrum Health for a school nurse. Howard hopes to have a school nurse starting in January.

In other business, board members approved hiring Amanda Brown to an elementary food service position, as well as approved Rachel Green as a school representative to the Special Education Parent Advisory Committee. Board members also approved the resignation of Christina Booher and Melissa Morgan.

The next EPS Board of Education meeting will begin at 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 8.
