EHS celebrates top graduates
EVART — Graduation day is nearing, and Evart High School has announced it’s Valedictorians and Salutatorian for the class of 2013. The three will take their place among their peers and receive their diplomas at commencements, which is scheduled for 2 p.m. on June 2.
One of two Evart High School Valedictorians of the class of 2013, Nicole Bullock has excelled in academics and has earned a 4.0 grade point average while taking classes at the Math and Science Technology Center and has been honored as a National Merit Semifinalist.
Bullock is the president of the National Honor Society and has been deeply involved in other extra-curricular activities including: softball for three years, Concert Band and Marching Band for three years and has been a drum major for two years.
She also volunteers her time at the Evart Free Methodist Church during Vacation Bible School, in the church nursery and is active in the youth group.
Bullock is the daughter of Paul and Janice Bullock of Evart. She plans to study pre-med and Spanish at Ferris State University.
The second Evart High School Valedictorian is Amanda Farrell, who also has earned a grade point average of 4.0 while participating in class and within the Evart community.
Farrell has participated in many sports throughout her high school career, including sideline cheer for six years, competitive cheer for two years, track for four years and basketball for one year. She also is a member of the National Honor Society and has volunteered her time to be part of the dance decorating committee, the homecoming float and banner building committee and concessions.
An active member of her church, she participates in youth group, the church praise team and has been on a mission trip to Brazil. She also assists with Vacation Bible School and AWANA.
Farrell is the daughter of Scott and Mechelle Farrell of Evart. She plans to attend Grace Bible College to study art.
The Evart High School Salutatorian for the class of 2013 is Taylor McLachlan, who has earned a grade point average of 3.953 while taking classes as the Mecosta Osceola Career Center.
McLachlan has been involved in cross country and track for four years, basketball for three years and figure skating for two years. In her school community, she has been a member of the National Honor Society for three years, a member of Students Against Destructive Decisions for one year and is the president of the student government.
Through the years she has volunteered her time with Toys for Tots, the Chicago Food Pantry, the Evart Community Carnival, local blood drives, food drives, homeless shelters and more. McLachlan also is a member of the Crossroads Community Church youth group and attends South Evart Free Methodist Church. She has been employed at Misher’s Drive.
McLachlan is the daughter of Scott and Beth McLachlan of Evart. She plans to study graphic communications at Ferris State
