Donations needed for Gifts for Kids
OSCEOLA COUNTY – Osceola County Department of Humans Services and Love Inc. of Osceola County are partnering to host Gifts for Kids, an annual event that provides needy children and their families presents for the holidays.
The event will take place on Dec. 14 at Evart Middle School and is available only to those who have signed up for the program.
There will be tables set up for various age groups, household items, board games and a table for gift wrapping. Hats, mittens, socks and underwear will also be on hand for families who need them.
“We ask that toys be new and unopened,” said John Klever, community resource coordinator for DHS in Mecosta and Osceola counties. “Clothing would be ideally unworn. Anything that someone is willing to donate we will take and if we can’t use it, we will make sure it goes somewhere where it will be used.”
A $10 meat voucher for Vic’s Supermarket in Reed City, Fosters Supermarket in Evart, Valu Land in Marion or LeRoy Village Market in LeRoy will be given to each family as well.
Enrollment is for Osceola County residents only and will continue until Friday, Dec. 6. To sign up for Gifts for Kids, call Love Inc. at (231) 468-3204 or (877) 633-0556.
To donate items, contact Klever at (231) 796-4312. Items can be dropped off at the DHS office, located at 14330 Northland Drive in Big Rapids, Evart Public Library, located at 104 N. Main St. in Evart, or at Evart Middle School from 4:45 to 8 p.m. on Dec. 13.
