Ohio man charged with home invasion, assault and battery
CEDAR TWP. — A man who tried to force his way into an Osceola County home has been arrested.
John Roy Chiantis, 58, of Ohio, has been arraigned on charges of second-degree home invasion and assault and battery. Bond has been denied.
On Friday, Osceola County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a home in Cedar Township, where a male subject was actively trying to gain entry to an occupied residence. Police were told the suspect tried to force his way through the door and grabbed at the victim. The suspect fled when the homeowner’s dog came into the room.
The suspect was later located in Hersey Township and arrested. He was lodged at the Osceola County Jail.
Police obtained additional information that the suspect had also been seen in the Reed City and Cedar Township areas, driving a 2016 Jeep and causing disturbances.
