Divers recover body of drowning victim

OSCEOLA COUNTY — Police have released the name of a man who drowned on Wednesday in Penasa Lake near LeRoy.

Calvin James Roshell’s death is considered an accidental drowning as investigators do not believe anything suspicious occurred prior to the accident, said Osceola County Undersheriff Justin Halladay.

Roshell, 52, moved to the LeRoy area from Flint in the spring, Halladay said.

Osceola County Sheriff’s deputies and the sheriff’s dive team were called at 6:41 p.m. on Wednesday to the lake, located in Osceola County’s Roselake Township about five miles southeast of LeRoy. Around 1 p.m. on Thursday, they found the man’s body using side-scanning sonar equipment. Witnesses said Roshell’s boat overturned while he was fishing on the east side of the lake and he fell overboard.
