Dive teams recover Flint man’s body from Osceola County lake
OSCEOLA COUNTY — Dive team members have recovered the body of a Flint man who they believe fell overboard his boat on Penasa Lake on Wednesday.
Osceola County Sheriff’s deputies and the sheriff’s dive team were called at 6:41 p.m. on Wednesday to the lake, located in Osceola County’s Roselake Township about five miles southeast of LeRoy. Around 1 p.m. on Thursday, they found the man’s body using side-scanning sonar equipment.
His name has not been released at this time, pending notification of his family.
Witnesses said a boat overturned and the 52-year-old Flint man fell overboard. He was last seen fishing near the east side of the lake.
An autopsy will be conducted on Friday to confirm the cause of death.
“More than likely, this was just a drowning, but you can’t always rule that until there’s an autopsy,” said Undersheriff Justin Halladay.
