EVART — On Monday, Evart City Council members unanimously voted to financially support the expansion and improvement of the depot stage.

The city will contribute half of the $8,500 estimated project total. The board has not yet come to a decision about the future of the city hall regarding whether to expand the depot building or relocate to elsewhere.

Regardless, members decided any possible construction projects on the depot building should not be impacted by the new stage.

Downtown Development Authority Director Al Weinberg hopes to break ground this summer, but remains realistic.

“I was hoping to break ground this summer, but I’d rather do it right than quick,” Weinberg said.
