Demolition of Vic's market underway

Ebels Supermarket to open February 2021

REED CITY -- Demolition has begun at the old Vic's Supermarket in Reed City. The Ebels family, of Falmouth, has contracted with Gerber Construction of Reed City for the demolition of the old building and construction of a new store.

"It's starting," Bob Ebels said. "Gerber Construction is on site today to begin the demolition. We are looking at totally new construction from the ground up, with a new parking lot, as well. The projected date for moving in is February 2021."

The new supermarket will be 23,000 square feet and will include a meat market, grocery, produce and dairy items, along with a grab and go deli area with a separate entrance for quick pick up, he added.

"We will have all the meat offerings we have at our Falmouth store, a large selection of fresh produce and dairy, a full line of groceries, salads and snacks, ready to heat meals from Dawn Fresh Catering, as well as the grab and go deli, plus a lot more." he said.

The new construction will be at the back of the lot in line with the existing buildings. The Ebels family purchased the entire strip mall and plan to refurbish all the buildings and bring in additional tenants.

"We will be installing a new parking lot and signage," Ebels said. "We will be refreshing the existing plaza building as well. We are excited to join the community and have been overwhelmed by all the support. Our goal is to make the plaza a central point for the city," Ebels said.
