Deli added to Dutch Pantry; business hosts open house through Dec. 7

SEARS — Area residents looking for another lunch option now have a wide variety of sliced coldcuts, cheese and cold sides to choose from.

The Dutch Pantry in Sears now offers a deli full of sandwich choices from Walnut Creek. Meats and cheeses can be sliced, cubed or cut to the specifications of each customer, and free samples are available. Sandwiches can even be made on-site using homemade wheat, white and spelt bread. There is even a gluten-free bread option available.

"I felt a deli would go over well with our clientele," said Dutch Pantry owner Rob Velasco. "We're trying to spread the word."

Besides its new deli, the store offers groceries, pet food, kitchen supplies, vitamins and supplements, bulk food and more. Officially, the deli opened the day before firearm deer season began, and the few who know of the deli's existence have been taking advantage.

"Business has been steady, and we shoot for low prices," Velasco added. "We're here to serve our customers and stretch their dollar, and we're always open for suggestions."

To debut the store's newest addition and its rearrangement, an open house will take place during the entire week of Dec. 2, during open hours. Specials will take place throughout the business, and the weekend also will offer coffee and homemade doughnuts.

The Dutch Pantry is located at 5938 U.S. 10 in Sears. It is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
