Delancey appointed to Pine River school board
LEROY — Kevin Delancey is the newest face on the Pine River Area Schools Board of Education following his appointment at the board's Feb. 9 meeting.
The seat he now occupies was left vacant following the resignation of former board member Denise Brock last month. Brock moved out of the district and therefore had to leave her position.
Three candidates, including Delancey, Janice Johnson and Roseann Fowler, were separately interviewed by the board during the meeting and asked the same 12 questions regarding the district and the school board's position within it. Their answers were scored by board members, with Delancey receiving the highest score.
Board members unanimously approved his appointment.
"I'm humbled and excited," Delancey said about his new position on the board. "It's my goal to be a member who is informed and moves the school district in a positive direction."
Delancey is a regular attendee at Pine River school board meetings and lives in the area with his family. He said he enjoys being involved in the community and believes supporting education is important.
In other business, the board accepted letters of resignation from administrator Scott Koenig, teacher Telli Clairday, and coaches Jan Burch, Bobby Crutch and Brent Ruppert.
