Tickets on sale now

MARION – Tickets already are on sale for a performance by country music artist David Nail at 8 p.m. on June 22 at the Marion Fair grandstand.

The concert is one stop in Nail’s summer tour which includes a performance at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville, Tenn., the Tupelo Elvis Festival in Tupelo, Miss. and numerous fairs and festivals from Wyoming to Maine.

“Every year we try and pick an up-and-comer,” said Rebecca Johnson, Marion fair board deputy treasurer and concert organizer. “He’s one of the up and coming (county music) stars.”

In the past, the headline performer at the annual concert - Friday during fair week - has been a star in the beginning of their country music career. Past performers include Lady Antibellum, LeAnne Rhymes, Toby Keith, Tim McGraw, Jason Aldeen, Pam Tippen, Little Texas, Billy Gillman and more.

“We tend to get them here and after they play here, they make it big,” Johnson said.

Before Nail performs, The Bronk Bros, a five-member country band, will open the concert.

Tickets cost $29.50 for gold seating, which are 300 assigned seats close to the concert; $14.50 for grandstand seating, which can hold up to 1,800 attendees; and $19.50 for festival seating on the track with individuals bringing their own chair.

Currently, a special sale offers a free grandstand seat to individuals who purchase three grandstand seats.

The maximum capacity at the event is 2,800 and Johnson said organizers would like to see the seats filled.

The concert is sponsored by LCM Surveying and Engineering, EDK Insurance Agency - Chad Knaggs and Artesian's Springs Medical Center.

All money raised at the concert will cover the cost of the concert itself as well as any improvements to the Marion Fair facilities and services.
