DEQ extends public comment on Nestlé Waters North America

LANSING — The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) has extended the public comment period an additional 90 days regarding Nestlé Waters North America, Evart, Osceola County, for a proposed increased large quantity water withdrawal made under Section 17 of the Michigan Safe Drinking Water Act, 1976 PA 399.

Néstle Waters is requesting to increase its pumping to 400 gallons per minute, an increase of 150 gpm from its current rate of 250 gpm.

In addition, the MDEQ will hold a public hearing on the proposed increased large quantity water withdrawal in 2017 before the end of the public comment period. MDEQ will issue a news release when the date and location of the public hearing are established.
