Crossroads truck and tractor pull set for July 28

REED CITY – A lack of snow may have caused organizers to cancel the Crossroads Snowmobile Snowfest in February, but it can’t stop the outdoor vehicle mayhem set for July 28.

The first Crossroads Truck and Tractor Pull will be held at the Nartron field airport in Reed City on a recently constructed 30-by-300-foot track.

“We’re trying to bring more to the area and help the local business,” said Mike Saez, of Crossroads Snowmobile Snowfest LLC. “We’re hoping a lot of locals will come up and bring their trucks.”

Organizers Chuck Davis and Saez expect the event to draw both locals and out-of-towners. They plan to continue the event annually.

“I hope everybody comes out and gives us some feedback on it,” Saez said. “We need everybody’s support to keep this going.”

Tractor registration will begin at 9 a.m. with pulls beginning at 11. Truck registration will be at 1 p.m. with pulls beginning at 3.

Prizes will be given for the most weight pulled per weight class. Admission is $5 per person and children age 5 and under get in free. Concessions will be available at the event.

Owner Norm Rautiola donated the airport, located just north of the intersection of US 10 and old US 131 in Reed City, to be used for the truck and tractor pull, and it also will be used for Snowfest this winter.

“We really couldn’t be doing this if it wasn’t for the generosity of Norm Rautiola,” Davis said.
