Correction

It was mistakenly reported in the June 13 issue of the Herald Review that a builder was hired for new EMS facilities in Osceola County. The company hired an architect and engineering firm that will design the facilities, but not construct them.

Hooker and De Jong, a firm based in Muskegon, was hired to design the buildings by a vote of 6-1 at the Osceola County Board of Commissioners meeting June 5.

The firm was selected from an initial pool of 14 bidders, upon the recommendation of EMS director Ed Nettle, board chairman Dave Brooks and county coordinator Susan Vander Pol who met with the top two vendors.

Hooker and De Jong will design a building to serve as an EMS base and present 3-D designs to the board, who will then proceed with the next step of the process, including determining the construction site, the number of buildings to be built and putting the construction of the base up for bid for contractors.

The Herald Review apologizes for this mistake.
