REED CITY — Personality, grace, poise and talent — these traits and are some of what the next Miss Reed City will embody.

This year's pageant competition, sponsored by the Reed City General Federation of Women's Clubs, will take place at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 14, at Westurburg Park, during the Great American Crossroads Festival. Both boys and girls are invited to participate and applications are now being accepted for candidates looking to be crowned for queen, junior queen, princess and prince. The cost to participate is $15.

Contestants must be between 14 and 19 years old to be in the running for queen, and ages 9 to 13 for junior queen. Prince contestants must be at least 10 years old and princess contestants must be at least 8 years old.

Winners will receive crowns and cash prizes, and all participants will receive a gift bag in addition to riding in the Crossroads Festival parade at 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 15.
