MARION — Work begins Monday, Aug. 28, on intersection improvements at M-115 and 20 Mile Road in Highland Township, Osceola County.
The $1.2 million project by the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) involves adding center left-turn lanes on M-115, line-of-sight improvements, resurfacing, curb, gutter and drainage improvements and new guardrail. Work is expected to end on Tuesday, Oct. 31.
M-115 traffic will be maintained on one alternating lane from Sept. 5 through late October. For the duration of the project, the east leg of 20 Mile Road will be detoured along 80th Avenue south to M-115. The west leg of 20 Mile Road will be closed intermittently and traffic detoured along 100th Avenue north to M-115. Work will take place during daylight hours, but traffic restrictions will remain in place.
MDOT expects this project will improve and maintain a smooth driving surface, extend the service life of the roadway, and increase safety with the addition of center left-turn lanes and improved sight distance.
