Community invited to ‘Budgeting 101’ presentations

REED CITY — Area residents are invited to join Christina Root, finance manager for Spectrum Health Big Rapids and Reed City Hospitals, as she explains how to track spending during “Budgeting 101: The Importance of Saving.”

Budgeting 101: The Importance of Saving is a free 90-minute class and part of the Helping the Whole You speaker series. The series features regular sessions taught by professionals on a variety of topics relevant to health and well-being.

During the session, Root will explain how people can establish a budget that allows them to tackle outstanding debts and save for the future. She also will discuss investing in retirement funds through an employer-sponsored program, or individually.

The presentation will take place at two times and locations:

  • 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 19, at the Reed City Fire Department, located at 227 E. Lincoln Ave., Reed City; and 
  • 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20,  at the Big Rapids Department of Public Safety, located at 435 N. Michigan Ave., Big Rapids

Community members of all ages are invited to attend these free presentations to learn more about budgeting. Both sessions will include the same presentation. A free meal will be provided, and space is limited.
