Community and Business Expo set for Nov. 7

REED CITY — Local businesses who wish to show what they have to offer and residents who desire to learn more about resources in their community will gather at this year's Reed City Community and Business Expo.

This year's 10th annual event will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7 in the Reed City High School cafeteria and is free to the public. Between 30 and 40 organizations and businesses from the local area are expected to attend to the event that attracts hundreds.

"The expo is a lot of fun," said Reed City Chamber of Commerce Director Suzie Williams. "It's one of my favorite events. It has a lot of good energy."

The event is a great way for vendors to spread awareness about who they are and what they can provide in a positive, open setting, and shopping locally is important, she added.

Members of Spectrum Health Reed City Hospital also will be in attendance at the event, including staff from the Diabetes Education program, Rehab and Nursing Center and Primary Care and Cancer Services. Information for each department will be distributed and expo attendees will have the chance to speak with facility directors and educators, as well as learn more about the new Susan P. Wheatlake Regional Cancer Center.

Free flu shots and blood pressure tests will be provided as well, thanks to the partnership with the Central Michigan District Health Department.

"This event is a great way to interact with the public and help keep our community healthy," said Spectrum Health Reed City Hospital Market Coordinator Sarah Neubecker. "We look forward to participating."

Williams said she hopes the public attends the event and enjoys themselves.

"Come and meet the people who have businesses in town," she said.

Vendors will be able to set up booths starting at 4 p.m. and should be ready by 5 p.m. For more information or to be a vendor, call the Reed City Chamber office at (231) 832-5431.
