Coffeehouse debuts in Reed City

REED CITY — Opening a new businesses took longer than expected for Juanita Ripley, but Juanita's Coffeehouse is starting strong and attracting many Reed City residents and visitors.

On Friday, Ripley and friends, family and Reed City Area Chamber of Commerce members celebrated the business with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

"I feel great," Ripley said following the event. "The community has been very welcoming. They love to come in and hang out. I think the best part is when the families come in and they stay and play."

The coffeehouse offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all ages. Adults have the opportunity to sit and chat, work or relax, while children have an area all to themselves for board games, crafts and puzzles. Beverages can be served hot or iced, and range from specialty, sugary coffee drinks to tea. Bagels and chocolate-covered espresso beans also are up for grabs, and Ripley said she may offer sandwiches in the future.

The business also serves as a gathering place for small local groups.

"We have a parent talk on Tuesday, we have a Lego club starting next month, we have family game night that's happening next month, a couple miscellaneous book clubs and crafting nights," Ripley added. "I want this to sustain itself and I want to be able to pass this onto my kids when they're old enough to take over. There are a couple of other things I'd like to offer that we're working on."

Juanita's Coffeehouse is located in the plaza next to Vic's Supermarket on Chestnut Street.
