REED CITY—Streets will be packed with bargain hunters on Friday and Saturday for the city-wide yard sales in Reed City.

Reed City Chamber of Commerce Director Suzie Williams said community members are excited about the fun event.

“People look forward to this for months,” Williams said. “Some will take Friday off of work to go out. It’s just a great time go and find treasures.”

Brenda Bowman, chamber board member and manager of The Inc Spot, has put together a map outlining yard sales throughout town.

The cost was $5 to advertise and be featured on the map, which can be picked up for free at local businesses.

“The yard sales bring a lot of people to town and the more yard sales, the more people come,” Bowman said. “The businesses in town even put out things to have a sidewalk sale.”

Wright’s Bake Shop, Nica’s Boutique, Chris’s Country Dollar, Patterson’s and other downtown businesses will likely have sales during the event, Williams said.

The Inc Spot will “definitely” be participating, Bowman said.

Williams expects the town to be crowded and buzzing with happy shoppers.

“There will be people parked all over,” she said. “The great thing is you can stop, get out and walk to two or three yard sales and then get back in and go park again.”
