REED CITY — For local bargain hunters, the days of Friday, July 18, and Saturday, July 19, is the time to take advantage of all Reed City residents have to offer during the annual  City Wide Yard Sales event.

More than 30 houses in the city will host a sale, which is a high number, according to Reed City Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Suzie Williams.

"We have an incredible amount this year," Williams said. "It's a very popular, fun event, because it doesn't cost money — unless you buy something — and people just like to go to all these yard sales."

Maps showing each registered sale are available throughout the downtown area and in some Evart locations, but additional, unlisted sales are expected to take place.

"For buyers finding what they want, like kid's clothes or furniture, it's word of mouth," Williams added. "Sellers will have our big yellow yard sale signs, which are easy to see, but if they wanted to advertise what they have they can put out more signs."

The annual event is so popular, in fact, that it brings visitors from the surrounding area and attendees of the Dulcimer Funfest, which takes place during the same weekend in Evart.

In addition, many of the local businesses will feature sidewalk sales during the same two days. Williams said it's easy for shoppers to grab a coffee or lunch in between stops.

"It's fun to see everybody going from place to place and there's people everywhere, but I think that's part of the fun," Williams said. "It is bargain hunting time and what a great opportunity to sell your stuff."
