REED CITY — The Reed City Area Ministerial Association will mark Good Friday with Cross Walk through the streets of Reed City on Friday, April 22 beginning at noon. All community churches have combined their resources for what has become an annual the “Cross Walk.”

All are residents and visitors are invited to meet at The Depot where the walk will begin with prayer and song. The cross is then carried through the streets of the Reed City community with the journey ending at the Woodland Cemetery.

Scriptures, prayers and songs will recall Jesus’ Passion as worshippers carry a life size cross from the center of town to the cemetery.

At significant business and schools, the carried Cross will stop and those taking part will join in prayer and song. There will be a tractor and trailer available for those who cannot make the walk, and need a ride.

Based on the traditional Stations of the Cross, the Cross Walk highlights Major events of the first Good Friday. For example, the passages about Jesus’ trial will be read in front of the courthouse. His appearance before religious authorities will be read near a church.

Members of different churches will take turns carrying the cross and leading the different worship times at the seven stops.

The Cross Walk will end in the cemetery as worshippers remember laying Jesus’ body in the tomb. Rides back to the starting point will be provided.

This ecumenical service is a ministry of the Reed City Area Ministerial Association, whose vision is churches working together to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ. Everyone is invited to participate.
