Church group fills outreach semi
LEROY — There is teamwork in northern Osceola County and it consists of a small church with big hearts, and a community that includes the students of the Pine River School District, along with a company called TJ Trucks.
In a sense, it doesn’t benefit either group, this sending of furniture and food and many other items to a place called Bastrop, Texas, and yet it does. It’s all about helping others. When that happens, it often helps the giver as much as the receiver, emotionally and mentally, and spiritually.
Giving Hope Ministries based at Travler’s Motel at LeRoy is coordinating the effort, the larger community also is donating items, and TJ Trucks will make a special delivery in the near future to a town in Texas, located in an area of the state where fires have destroyed thousands of acres. It is near Austin.
According to reports, more than 30,000 people lost their homes.
Many are being housed in churches and shelters.
The goal of Giving Hope Ministries is to join in doing exactly that, giving hope along with help to those left homeless, many without anything left at all. In addition, they hope to help replenish supplies needed by firefighters.
Over the past few weeks, a semi has been located at Travler’s Motel at LeRoy, and most recently was parked in a lot at Pine River High School. Drop boxes have been located at the Book Nook in Cadillac and the LeRoy Village Market.
Still needed are such things as new socks and undergarments, soap, shampoo, new sheets, soups, items to be used for injured pets and animals, and donations to help with fuel costs. For additional information, contact Laura Turos at email@example.com
