HERSEY — The Cargill Cares Team, from the Cargill Hersey Salt Mining Facility, had the pleasure of donating a check in the amount of $10,000 to Reed City High School for the purchase of graphing calculators.

Monty Price, principal of Reed City High School, came to the facility to accept the check presented by Karl Tomaszewski, Plant Manager.

"We have hundreds of kids who don’t have access to that technology," said Price, upon receiving the check. "This is going to really help those kids. It will put these calculators in all of the math classes"

The Cargill Hersey facility has a team of volunteers dedicated to providing community support in the way of monetary donations and volunteer projects. A representative from the high school math department submitted a donation request to the Cargill Cares Team for the purchase of graphing calculators to be used in every math class.

Price was surprised and excited to hear of the donation approval.

"This was such a pleasant surprise," he said. "It is going to touch a lot of lives. You guys are No. 1 in our hearts."

"We were looking for the right opportunity and this was a perfect fit," Tomaszewski stated.
