Cadillac Footliters perform 'Dixie Swim Club'

REED CITY — Members of the Cadillac Footliters will perform the play “The Dixie Swim Club” later this month at the Crossroads Performing Arts Center, located at 249 W. Upton Ave. in Reed City.

“The Dixie Swim Club” takes place in the south and focuses on five women of different backgrounds who met on a college swim team. To keep their friendship alive and reconnect, the women take a long weekend each year in August at the same beach cottage in North Carolina. The play allows audience members the chance to glimpse into four weekends of the women’s past years of gathering together. Each weekend shows the women at different ages.

The performing arts group is celebrating its 50th season this year, and director Pat Paveglio loves the play for a number of reasons.

“It is heartwarming and funny,” Paveglio said. “It’s not just a woman’s play, it’s funny enough for the guys. It’s one of the best scrips I’ve ever worked with.”

She hopes to have a large audience at each show and looks forward to the “magic” that takes place between actors and the audience during live theater. It is something that one cannot get when watching a movie, she added.

The performances will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. They are available for purchase at the Reed City Depot or can be reserved by emailing or calling 231-734-9859. For more information about the Cadillac Footliters, visit
