Brunch for the first day of spring

Delicious spread: (ABOVE) Area residents celebrated the first day of spring with a Sunday brunch at the Pere Marquette Bistro and Catering Company. Owner Deb Ahlich-Remus was pleased with the turnout for the event. “We thought about doing something for Easter, but frankly there are a lot of churches that do events like sunrise breakfast,” she said. “We thought it would be better to celebrate the first day of spring because, after all, it’s Michigan and it could be snowing any day.” “We’ve always wanted to do brunch on Sunday. We started this year on Valentine’s Day, because it was a Sunday,” she said. “We did brunch this month and will do it again next month and then we will probably start back up again in fall or in January.” Tentatively, Ahlich-Remus plans on hosting the next brunch on April 17.
